Cisco CCNP Service Provider Operations (CCNP SP Ops)
Expert Level Certification has been available
for a number of years but there has never been a comprehensive
Certification track dedicated to Service Providers.
Recent announcements from Cisco have changed
this and there is now a path from Associate to Expert level
designed for professionals who need to manage, maintain and
troubleshoot complex service provider IP NGN core network
infrastructures.
Cisco CCNP SP Operations
The CCNP SP Operations certifications
validates knowledge and skills required (of a Tier II or Tier
III support engineer) to troubleshoot and maintain service
provider IP NGN core (PE-PE and PE-CE) network
infrastructures. With a CCNP SP Operations certification, a
network professional demonstrates the knowledge and skills
required to isolate network performance problems, implement
proactive fault measures using operations management
processes, frameworks, and network management systems. The
CCNP SP Operations curriculum includes maintaining carrier
class routing protocol environments, MPLS VPN and TE deployments,
and QoS mechanisms using Cisco IOS and IOS XR.

Recertification
Cisco professional level certifications (CCNP, CCNP Service
Provider Operations, CCNP Wireless, CCDP, CCSP, CCVP, and CCIP) are
valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part
of the professional level curriculum or any CCIE/CCDE written exam
before the certification expiration date. Achieving or
recertifying any of the certifications above automatically extends
your active Associate and Professional level certification(s) up to
the point of expiration of the last certification achieved. For
